Albe Gutierrez (she/her/ella), also known as Miss Albe, is a bilingual (English/Spanish) art therapist working with individuals and groups among Chicago’s various LGBTQIA+ and Spanish-speaking communities. She holds a Master of Arts in Art Therapy and Counseling degree, MAATC, from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, BFA, in Studio Art from the University of New Mexico.

Therapy with Albe is a collaborative experience designed to enhance personal insight, coping skills, and communication techniques through various avenues of self-expression. Her approach to therapy and treatment is an integrative one, combining expressive arts modalities with psychodynamic and client-centered methods, as well as Positive CBT, to promote a trauma-informed environment for growth.

Albe specializes in areas of harm reduction practices for substance use and compulsive behavior, support for survivors of colonial, gender- based and systemic violence, and identifying the impacts of trauma on various dimensions of daily functioning like mood, anxiety, and relational conflict in order to improve well-being. She is a kink and poly aware therapist with a strong background in direct service, advocacy, and engagement with the LGBTQIA+ community and transgender women of color in particular.

Albe is dedicated to supporting LGBTQIA+ individuals in gender & sexual identity exploration & formation work, destigmatizing mental health care and treatment among marginalized and immigrant communities, and is committed to supporting TGNC individuals in the unique aspects of their journeys.
