Lillstreet Art Center is looking for ceramics teachers excited to instruct first-time and beginning wheel throwing classes and handbuilding classes.

The ideal candidate is someone who is enthusiastic about students new to the medium and wants to continue teaching beginning. Teachers are only expected to teach their contracted hours; seeing work through kilns, maintaining the studio, and managing student questions outside of class time will be handled by the studio.

Requirements 

– Bachelor’s degree in arts or higher or 4+ years as a working artist 

– Previous teaching experience, or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience. 

– Patient, Positive and Adaptable 

– Excited to work with a variety of adults from a myriad of backgrounds, experience, skill level, and ability 

– Comfortable with individualized instruction during class 

– Timely and respectful communication via email with members of the Director and Administration teams 

– Weekday evening (6p-10p) and/or weekend morning/afternoon (10a-5p) availability

Supervision 

– This position has no supervisory responsibilities 

– This position reports directly to the Director of Ceramics Programming

Compensation 

This is a contract position with an hourly rate based on experience, starting at $24/ hr. Each class taught pays 3.25 hours/week with a duration of either 5 or 10 weeks per session. When teaching, a new contract is signed for each 10-week session.
