Dear Community Partners,
The Andersonville Chamber of Commerce has generously dedicated an entire night’s stage to CTC this Midsommarfest to continue our work of building a trans-inclusive Andersonville! Our event Blooming Beyond the Binary: Midsommarfest Trans Stage Takeover will kick off Andersonville’s Midsommarfest weekend Friday, June 10th, 6-10pm.
Our hosts, Crocodile Lightning and Mz Mr, are excited to facilitate a magical two-part event: first, a premiere showing of trans advocacy mini-documentary “What’s in a name?” followed by a panel discussion with the cast and director and a neighborhood call to action, and second, a variety show featuring beloved Chicago-based trans artists, including Andersonville local KJ Whitehead, Imirregulargirl, Switchtheboiwonder, and more, with surprise appearances from a few of our favorite politicians. Each family-friendly performance will celebrate QUEER JOY, TRANS LIBERATION, & NONBINARY LOVE.
We will shower love upon our trans artists, open up about mental health, and promote our locally grown #HireTransNow initiative. Most importantly, we will have fun and foster cross-community connection. We will take this opportunity to also honor the life and legacy of CTC Board member and Andersonville leader Elise Malary.
Join us in making this evening special and memorable for participating artists and attendees. Check out our sponsorships that will help make our dreamy show– Blooming Beyond the Binary: Midsommarfest Trans Stage Takeover a reality.
