T Munoz

Curator’s Bio

T is a non-binary, queer, brown, poet and visual artist. They use their art as a form of resistance and protest. Their recent artist talk and workshop, at Purdue University, revolved around the intersections of race, gender identity, and sexuality. They are a strong believer in DIY, do it yourself, and representing narratives for black and brown queer folks by black and brown queer folks. This past summer T and their good friend, Ken Folk, a queer-Trans Artists, curated and hosted an art showcase called ‘THEIRS,’ at the Chicago read and write library, that centered non-binary/queer artists. They hope their work causes audiences to reflect on how the uncomfortable realities of marginalized people can be lived through at all. While calling for action is essential, being able to be aware and breathe through pain is the first step.
