Lillstreet Art Center is hiring for a Director position in our Metalsmithing and Jewelry department, preferably to start within the first half of August. This role oversees all aspects of the Metalsmithing and Jewelry department at Lillstreet Art Center with core responsibilities within team management, curriculum management and development, and studio and equipment maintenance. This position also oversees the private group metals This position oversees the metals faculty, monitors, and the studio technician.

Essential Job Functions
Team Management

● Overseeing the hiring, training, and scheduling of all Metals instructors
● Managing the Metals Studio Technician and studio monitors.

Curriculum Management & Development

● Creating/updating curriculum for foundational programming, from class development to
workshops with reference to profit/loss data
● Distributing course proposals to instructors and filtering responses.
● Using class proposals to program/review/re-edit course catalogs for five sessions per year.
● Working with Student Services Director to schedule and facilitate custom classes and parties
within the Metals Department.

Studio & Equipment Maintenance:

● Maintaining and repairing (as needed) metals equipment and studios.
● Managing the paid open studio program for students and outside artists
● Maintaining a full department inventory and purchasing and distributing all materials
requests for classes, as well as general supplies for the department.

Additional Responsibilities:

● Mentoring, supporting and supervising department artist-in-residence with art practice,
classes, monitoring, and exhibitions (in addition to working alongside Director of Artist
Programs & Outreach in annual selection process).
● Managing departmental student body communication from inquiries, questions, concerns,
etc
● Managing the Metals Dept Instagram

Qualifications
● Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in Metalsmithing; or equivalent professional experience
● 2+ years of metalsmithing studio management experience
● 2+ years of people management experience
● 2+ years of customer service experience
● Ability to work collaboratively and as part of a larger team
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills
● Excellent interpersonal skills
● Excellent time management & organizational skills

Compensation
● This is a 32 hour weekly position with a starting salary of $46,000 annually.
